Never had a wax and curious…

Posted by on May 30, 2017 in Ask Grace

QUESTION: Hi, I just watched your youtube self waxing video.  I found it very helpful in the event that I start trying this on my own.  I really want to get waxed down there but I have a few concerns and questions.  You seem very open and honest in your video so I thought I would take the chance you would answer me. I am heavy set.  I had a friend a while back that did the waxing thing and she always told me it was best for heavier set people to not try waxing.  There was...

Where to Buy a Sugaring Warmer

Q: I’m interested in the sugaring product but I was wondering where to get the sugaring warmer for it. A: You can get a wax warmer at Sally’s Beauty Supply (either in store or online) that has a sugar setting. Here’s one that would work: http://www.sallybeauty.com/wax-warmer/SBS-730201,default,pd.html#start=5 You don’t really want the sugar heated too much. Just a little above room temperature. If you are just using it for home use, you can also heat...

How to Clean Electric Hair Clippers

Q: How do you clean the electric buzzers [clippers]? A: Use a disposable mascara wand or pipe cleaner to remove the hair and clean electric hair clippers (or buzzers). All disposable parts can soak in disinfectant solution. Spray the unit with alcohol and wipe down with gauze square (or you could use an alcohol wipe). Then apply oil to the unit. There is a spray that I used that cleaned the clipper/buzzer and oiled it that was sold at Walmart Wahl brand. I still added a...

First Time Brazilian Trimming

Q: If you’re doing a virgin Brazilian on a very hairy client how much would you trim? –Anna A: Do you have buzzers? If so, you can use a guard that allows the hair to be about 1/2 inch long. I don’t recommend using scissors because you could cut them. Although, if that is all you have you can pinch the hair between your index and middle finger, then cut whatever hair pokes over the top. You can do this over the entire area, and that will help get rid of...

Avoiding Burns from Sugaring and Waxing

Q: Thank you very much for your response. I am deaf, but was able to glean most of what you might have said on the helpful videos on Youtube. I have never done sugaring before, but I have had my upper lip, chin, and under chin areas waxed… with problems. I got burns (I have never waxed myself and always had this done by a spa esthetician. All three different spa estheticians at three different spas were unable to avoid burning me, so that tells me that my skin is...

How to Guide: Waxing and Sugaring Products for Hair Removal

Just as there are many varieties of products for hair removal, there are also a variety of technicians who each have their own style of using the products. Given these variables you are still better off being waxed by someone who is using the proper techniques and the best products for waxing, than someone sugaring who is not. I only say that because when you hear horror wax or sugar stories, the majority of time it was because the technician was not doing the service...
